These crochet fortune cookies are from a free online pattern that stitches them closed and embroiders a smiley face on the outside.
I wanted to include actual fortunes inside my cookies.
I crafted some fortune messages and found some cotton binding tape to use as the “paper”.
Next, because I was using iron-on transfer paper I needed to print the text backwards. I created mirror text in Word and did a few test prints.
I cut out my fortunes, ironed them onto the tape then stitched the ends to the centre of each cookie – so that they were attached.
Then I stitched each cookie closed and (using my pinkie finger) poked the fortune inside.
